Former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer is facing another sexual assault allegation, this time from a woman in Arizona. The woman, who has not been publicly identified, filed a lawsuit against Bauer on Tuesday, alleging that he assaulted her during a sexual encounter in December 2020.
The woman’s lawsuit is the fourth sexual assault allegation against Bauer since June 2021. In the previous three cases, Bauer has denied the allegations and has not been charged with any crimes.
In response to the latest allegation, Bauer’s attorney, Shawn Holley, issued a statement saying that the lawsuit is “frivolous” and that Bauer “will vigorously defend himself against these baseless allegations.”
Bauer is currently on administrative leave from MLB. He has not pitched in the major leagues since June 2021.
The latest allegation against Bauer is a major setback for the pitcher, who was once one of the best pitchers in baseball. Bauer won the National League Cy Young Award in 2020 and was a two-time All-Star.
The allegations against Bauer have also cast a shadow over Major League Baseball. MLB has been criticized for its handling of the previous three allegations against Bauer.
It remains to be seen how the latest allegation against Bauer will impact his career. Bauer has denied all of the allegations against him and has said that he plans to return to baseball. However, it is possible that the allegations could lead to Bauer being suspended or even banned from baseball.
