Jalen Hood-Schifino was selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 20th overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NBA draft on Thursday night.

Hood-Schifino, a 6-foot-6 guard from Indiana, was a consensus four-star recruit in the 2021 class. He played two seasons at Indiana, averaging 11.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game as a sophomore.

The Spurs are hoping that Hood-Schifino can develop into a three-and-D player at the next level. He shot 38.2% from 3-point range as a sophomore and was a solid defender.

Hood-Schifino is the first Indiana player to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft since OG Anunoby was taken by the Toronto Raptors with the 23rd overall pick in 2017.

Here are some additional details from the article:

  • Hood-Schifino was born in Indianapolis and played high school basketball at Lawrence North.
  • He was a McDonald’s All-American in 2021.
  • He is the son of former NBA player Jalen Rose.
